We Marched

I was one of millions.
Millions to step in rhythm definitive of a cause.
A cause that unified, inspired, and energized a drained country.
A country whose citizens were exhausted and filled with rage.
Rage, rage, morphed and infectious, it represented all sides.
So we marched.
We marched with signs.
We marched with words.
We marched with hugs, smiles, handshakes, and love.
Chants echoing on federal land, the district seemed to bulge with comradery.
Each individual came with one cause and left with five more.
The intersectional joy of multi-representational bliss.
The ability to see that all oppressions face a similar enemy: ignorance.
So we marched.
We marched with signs.
We marched with words.
With colors we painted over the white wash of Washington.
Pink pussy hats, black fists.
Rainbow flags waving the spectrum of hope.
I've never felt so strong before.
